Research Interests
Our research involves the fields of molecular recognition and supramolecular chemistry. A major focus of the group is on the development of optical and electrochemical sensors for biological anions such as phosphates, pyrophosphates, peptides, proteins, nucleotides and nucleic acids. Continuous works are directed at the bioanalytical applications such as an enzyme assay, a pyrosequencing technique, disease diagnosis and bioimaging. We are also developing organic materials for organic light-emitting diodes, organic thin film transistors and organic solar cells. Other research programs involve the development of self-assembled superstructures such as helical structures, tubular structures, chiral capsules and liquid crystals with helicity, based on metal-ligand and hydrogen bonding interactions. These supramolecules will be applied to molecular containers, chiral separation and molecule delivery.
